Straits Green is a playground or park in Tanjung Tokong, located between Tesco Tanjung Tokong and the Quayside Condominium. The park is dubbed “Playground-By-The-Sea”, and was part of the Phase 1 of the Seri Tanjung Pinang (STP1) project.
If you are on Jalan Seri Tanjung Pinang, it is not obvious that Straits Green is nearby. You will have to turn into the small road between Tesco Tanjung Tokong and Quayside Condominium, which will lead to Straits Green.
I recently visited Straits Green on 1 December 2017, bringing along my daughter who loves playgrounds. We can see the Quayside Condominium looming just beside Straits Green.
The playground is a little old, and the equipment looked worn out. I guess it has been a while since its opening in 2013. The playground doesn’t look interesting for children to play in. The Youth Park Accessible Playground and the Children Playground at Penang Youth Park are better places to go to.
There is a small field where people can play football.
My recent trip to Straits Green was somewhat disappointing, because the playground seemed a little neglected. The only thing going for Straits Green is that it is a park near the sea where people can go for a walk.
By the way, if you prefer an indoor playground, you may want to check out Chatoys Indoor Playground at the nearby Tesco Seri Tanjung Pinang.
