The Eastern & Oriental Hotel (popularly known as E&O Hotel) along Farquhar Street is a luxurious colonial-style hotel in Penang. It was established in 1885 by the Sarkies Brothers. Today, the E&O Hotel consists of the Heritage Wing and a new wing named Victory Annexe (opened in 2013).
I recently visited E&O Hotel for a conference (on 25 October 2017), and took the opportunity to tour around the beautiful hotel. The hotel has very nice lobbies in both wings.
The waterfront/seaside area of the E&O Hotel is the most impressive. It was windy when I walked around the waterfront area, which was really nice. I managed to take some pictures of the E&O Hotel waterfront/seaside area.
There are a number of old canons along the E&O Hotel waterfront, which gives the hotel a historical wartime feel.
There is also a small jetty (or boat ramp) connected to the E&O Hotel waterfront, which I believe is used for the water limousine ferry service between E&O Hotel and Straits Quay.
I can’t help but strolled along the E&O Hotel waterfront twice that day. It was really relaxing, walking slowly, and enjoying the breathtaking view of the Penang island coastline from Gurney Drive to Straits Quay.
