A painting/colouring competition was held in 1st Avenue Mall on Sunday, 14 May 2023. The theme of the competition was the Rabbit zodiac (2023 is the Year of the Rabbit), so the rabbit is the main character in the drawings painted by participants. Participants were divided into 2 categories based on their age: Group A (7-9 years old) and Group B (10-12 years old). The younger participants in Group A used colour pencils and crayons, while the older participants in Group B used the water colour.
There were quite a number of Chinese primary school students participating in the competition. They took up the empty space on the 8th Floor (the TGV Cinemas and Red Box Karaoke are also located on this floor), each bringing their own table and chair. As tables and chairs were not provided, some parents ended up buying small tables/chairs from the MR DIY and Easy Home Centre stores on Level 4 of 1st Avenue Mall. The children got to work on their paintings from 10.30AM to 12.30PM.
At around 1PM, the prize-giving ceremony was held. As usual, a number of VIPs gave talks, before the winners were announced. Trophies were given to the winners. All participants were given a certificate and a stalk of rose. Overall, it was a well-organized competition.
