Mandarin Cafe is a popular coffee shop (or “kopitiam”) among the locals in Island Glades, Penang (Address: 1 N, Lintang Delima 5, Taman Island Glades, 11700 Gelugor, Penang. Tel: 04-6573903). It is located right behind Genting Cafe, and is on the same row as Suan Hin Mini Market.
There are many hawker stalls in Mandarin Cafe. The food that can be found here are char koay teow, wan than mee, half-boiled egg & toast, pan mee, fish head bee hoon, hokkien mee, lam mee, curry mee, koay teow th’ng, char koay kak, mee goreng, “ham chim peng” (fried dough), Western food, Hainanese chicken rice, economy rice, nyonya kuih (pastry), and others. Indeed, you can find many varieties of Penang’s hawker food here.
Mandarin Cafe is usually very crowded during breakfast and dinner times. However, the space in the coffee shop is large enough that dining there is quite comfortable. Customers here are mostly local Penangites, especially those living around the Island Glades area.
