Kedai Makanan Seong Huat (formerly known as Larut Cafe) is a hawker centre in Georgetown, Penang (Address: 1, Jalan Larut, 10050 Georgetown, Penang. Tel: 04-2264312). The coffee shop is located at the junction of Jalan Bawasah and Jalan Larut, within a couple of minutes’ walking distance from Hotel Royal Penang.
There are many hawker stalls within Kedai Makanan Seong Huat. The more popular stalls here are Ah Soon Kor Har Mee (a famous hokkien mee stall in Penang) and the koay teow th’ng stall. Ah Soon Kor Har Mee’s specialty is hokkien mee served with mantis prawn, while the koay teow th’ng stall serves the flat noodles soup with special ingredients like pork liver, intestines and other innards. Other hawker foods available here include koay chap, lor mee, chee cheong fun, chicken rice, wan tan mee, nasi lemak, char koay teow and localized Western food, among others.
There is also a Chinese “zhu char”/seafood place at the back of the restaurant. The food served here are typical Chinese dishes that go very well with white rice. It is a nice place to have a simple Chinese family meal.
