Jaya Grocer is a premium supermarket founded in 2007 by the Teng family (the Teng family also founded Teng Mini Market Centre and Giant supermarket). The supermarket chain started in the Klang Valley, but has since established a store in Penang’s Gurney Paragon Mall in 2018. Jaya Grocer’s Gurney Paragon Mall store was previously occupied by Sam’s Groceria (Address: Lot LG26, 26A, 27, Gurney Paragon Mall, 163-D, Persiaran Gurney, 10250 Georgetown, Penang. Tel: 04-2919883).
If you are looking for quality imported products and groceries (exotic cheese, imported jam, wine, cherries, etc.), Jaya Grocer in Gurney Paragon Mall is the place to go. Local products and groceries can also be found here, so it is everything under one roof. I noticed that the groceries sold at Jaya Grocer is generally looking fresher and of higher quality. Of course, the prices probably cannot compare with Tesco or Giant – but you get good value.

We have just been to your branch in Paragon and the music was so loud as to be uncomfortable. This is a store not a disco, the music should be subdued and soothing. It should be in the background not intrusive. We are regular clients at this store but if this continues we shall seek a more friendly environment to spend our money
