Queensbay Mall is one of the popular malls in Penang (and probably the longest). I visited Queensbay Mall on Friday, June 2nd, 2017, and was delighted to find that the Hari Raya Puasa decorations are up.
The Hari Raya decorations are located at Queensbay Mall’s ground floor, depicting a traditional fishing village (kampung nelayan). There are boats (sampan), fishing nets, dried salted fish, and platforms leading to the “sea”. I’m sure those who used to live in a traditional fishing village will feel nostalgic looking at this year’s Queensbay Mall Hari Raya decorations.
There are also decorated “sheds” and “huts” selling Malay-themed items, from food stuffs (laksa, nasi lemak, ketupat, rendang, Hari Raya cookies), to clothings. Some of the areas are still “Work-In-Progress”, but the decorations already look nice.
I like the festive mood at Penang malls leading up to the major festivals (Hari Raya Puasa, Chinese New Year, Deepavali). Kudos to Queensbay Mall for putting up such an elaborate Hari Raya decoration this year.
