There are many excellent char koay teow stalls in Penang. Recently, I tried out the Good Taste Char Koay Teow stall at Kedai Kopi Seng Thor (Seng Thor Coffee Shop). Kedai Kopi Seng Thor is located at the intersection of Lebuh Carnavon and Lebuh Kimberley, in the heart of Georgetown (Address: 160, Lebuh Carnavon, 10100 Georgetown, Penang). It is just down the street (opposite side) from Ping Hooi Cafe, where Tiger Char Koay Teow is located. I believe not many people know about this Good Taste char koay teow stall.
The char koay teow at the Good Taste stall turned out to be pretty good. I would say it is up there among the best char koay teow in Penang. The char koay teow here definitely has the “wok hei”, which is an important characteristic of an excellent plate of Penang char koay teow. I ordered a medium-sized plate, which came with 2 big prawns. The Good Taste stall also serves fried rice and hokkien char, but I didn’t try those that day.
Here is the location of the Good Taste Char Koay Teow stall (in Kedai Kopi Seng Thor):
