Penang curry mee is one of the popular hawker foods in Penang. Today, I would like to introduce a popular Penang curry mee stall at Lee Huat Cafe (or Kedai Kopi Lee Huat). Lee Huat Cafe is located opposite Lam Wah Ee Hospital, at the intersection of Jalan Masjid Negeri (Greenlane) and Jalan Tan Sri Teh Ewe Lim.
The curry mee stall at Lee Huat Cafe has been operating there for years. It serves delicious curry mee, right up there with the very best in Penang. The curry mee comes with the standard tau pok, pig’s blood, cuttle fish, cockles, and prawn/shrimp. I believe you need to pay extra for the prawns though. The curry mee here has a good combination of curry and chilli paste, making it tasty with the right spiciness. I think the curry mee here is definitely as good as the ones in Genting Cafe and Lorong Seratus Tahun, although each of these stalls has their own uniqueness in taste.
There are many other hawker stalls at Lee Huat Cafe, selling jawa mee, nasi lemak, koay teow th’ng, oyster porridge, sar hor fun, toast/half-boiled eggs, lor mee, hokkien mee, and others. So, you have the full array Penang hawker food here. I should also mention that the half-boiled eggs here is great too, together with the kaya/butter toast. The hawker stalls at Lee Huat Cafe only operate during breakfast time, so, do go there before 11AM.
Here is the location of Lee Huat Cafe:
