Victoria Station Bayan Baru (Address: 17, Lorong Mayang Pasir 5, Bandar Bayan Baru, 11950 Bayan Lepas, Penang. Tel: 04-6425988 / 04-6428988) has been in the Western restaurant scene in Penang for a long time. It used to be one of the few places to go for Western food like steak, lobster and salmon. The prices was premium (still is today), so it was considered a higher end dining location in the yesteryears. Today, there are lots of choices in Penang, but Victoria Station remain one of the cool places for celebrations, business meals and of course Valentine’s Day dinner. The signature of any Victoria Station restaurant is the train carriage-shaped dining area, which provides a special dining environment for customers.
If you are looking to have steak, Victoria Station is one of the best restaurants to go to in Penang (I like The Ship as well). The steak is from premium beef, and is tender and juicy. I personally prefer the steak without the special VS sauce, just the plain, old steak. Typically, a premium steak meal will come with salad and bread.
Victoria Station also serves other Western dishes, including lobster, crab, oyster, salmon, lamb shank, grilled chicken and many others. There are also a good variety of beverages, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. You can enjoy a complete Western meal here.
The dining area is very comfortable, with ample space between the tables. Normally, there are not many people dining here, so you may have your meal in a relaxed environment.
Apart from Bayan Baru, Victoria Station also has a branch in Seberang Jaya (Address: 10, Lebuh Tenggiri 2, Pusat Bandar Seberang Jaya, 13700 Prai, Penang. Tel: 04-3981288 / 04-3982388).
