A creative colouring competition was held at Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan (Cina) Union on 9 September 2023 (Saturday). The competition was held in conjunction with Merdeka Day and Malaysia Day, 2 symbolically important days for the country. The competition was aptly named Pertandingan Mewarna Kreatif Hari Kebangsaan dan Hari Malaysia 2023, jointly organized by the Rukun Tetangga and Union Chinese Primary School (Jalan Burmah). The participants were children from Chinese primary schools around Penang.
Participants’ registration started around 8.30AM, and the children got to work on their colouring from 9.15AM to 11.15AM. Parents were allowed to wait and observe on the perimeters of the school hall. Towards the end of the event, there were speeches and a prize giving ceremony at around 12.30PM. It was a good weekend activity for the children, where they got to interact with friends, compete and showcase their colouring skills.
