Chok Kee Porridge Cafe is a humble eatery in the heart of Georgetown, Penang. It serves Cantonese-style porridge. The shop is located at Lebuh Kimberley (Address: 188, Lebuh Kimberley, 10200 Georgetown, Penang. Tel: 016-4800659). Chok Kee Porridge stall used to be located at Lebuh Cintra, before moving to its current shop house.
The most famous porridge at Chok Kee Porridge Cafe is undoubtedly the pig intestines porridge or “chee cheong chok”. Customers can choose to have the “chee cheong chok” with coagulated pig’s blood cubes or without. The porridge is also served with crispy fried intestines. There are 2 other porridge types available at Chok Kee, namely the century egg porridge and the peanut porridge. My favourite here is the century egg porridge, which also has dried oyster in it, making it really tasty.
The shop itself is a little old and small. There are only a few tables for customers to dine in. Nonetheless, the porridge tastes best when enjoyed at the shop itself. It is a good place to stop by for a quick breakfast or lunch.
