The Buddha’s Light International Association (BLIA) organized a Charity Walkathon in Jelutong recently on 7 July 2019 (Sunday). The BLIA organization is associated with Fo Guang Shan, a major Buddhist organization in Taiwan. The theme of the walkathon is My Earth, My Home / Faith & Legacy. The walkathon’s starting point is at the Japanese Garden’s Dewan JKKK Island Park. The Union Primary School / SRJK (C) Union also participated in the walkathon event and activities, with many teachers and students attending. Participants started to congregate at the Japanese Garden at around 6.45AM.
Before the walkathon started, there were some short speeches and warm-up session conducted at the Dewan JKKK Island Park, Japanese Garden. Participants had a fun time doing warm-ups conducted by 2 fitness instructors.
Participants started the walk at around 8.15AM. The walkathon covered the areas of Taman Guan Joo Seng, Kingfisher Apartment, Jay Series Condominium and Taman Greenview. It was good exercise for the participants as they have to walk uphill in some sections of the walkathon. Participants also got to enjoy the view of the neighbourhood by foot, instead of just driving through. The entire walk took about 50 minutes. After the walk, participants got to enjoy breakfast at the Dewan JKKK Island Park.
After breakfast, there were photo sessions and performances. The SRJK (C) Union students delivered an exciting Wushu performance for the audience.
