I attended the wedding reception of a Malay friend’s daughter on Saturday, 23 September 2017, at TH Hotel Penang, Bayan Lepas, Penang. TH Hotel is owned by the Lembaga Tabung Haji Malaysia. It was the first time I visited TH Hotel, so I thought I would write about my visit there.
I arrived at TH Hotel with my family at around 1PM. It was sunny and hot. Luckily, we were able to find a parking spot easily, and parking is free.From there, we proceeded to Dewan Mutiara TH Hotel where the wedding reception was held. The hall is quite big, and there are many guests.
We were served briyani rice (nasi briyani) with chicken and beef – self service, buffet style. The food served is quite good, I especially like the beef rendang. The seating arrangement was comfortable, but unfortunately, the tables are not cleaned properly after guests finished their food and left. I guess it is quite difficult for the staff to clean up the tables as guests come and go.
After the wedding lunch, we walked around the TH Hotel area. There is a small lobby and a cafe. There are also stalls selling clothes and toys around the hotel area. We bought a toy Hello Kitty fan for our daughter for only RM 8, which was a reasonable price, I think.
As the area is quite small, we finished our little tour in about 15 minutes. It was an afternoon well spent, attending a wedding reception and getting to visit TH Hotel Penang for the first time.
